Introducing...

I graduated from the University of East Anglia with a first-class honours degree in the History of Art, specialising in Italian and Northern Renaissance Art and Architecture, and winner of the Dissertation Prize.

I am a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and a member of the Higher Education Academy.  I lectured part-time at the University of East Anglia and I am a tutor for the Board of Continuing Education of Cambridge University at Madingley Hall for whom I run weekend and study day courses.

I also lecture to The Art Fund, U3A and The Arts Society (formerly called the National Association of Decorative and Fine Arts Society).

My essay on ‘The Fresco Decoration in the Sistine Chapel: Biblical Authority and the Church of Rome’  appears in ‘The Bible and the Arts’ published by Edinburgh University Press in 2014.

I am particularly keen to set the art of the period in the context of the society for which it was produced. Consequently, patronage and propaganda are key issues in my lectures. My immense enthusiasm for and love of the period and its art ensure that my lectures, whilst well researched, are above all enjoyable.
